Welcome to the official website of the 8^th European Conference on Weaning and Rehabilitation in Critically-Ill Patients, the annual conference of the European ICU Recovery Network, taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April 2023.

About the Conference

The Venue

The conference will take place at Queen’s University Belfast in the Sir William Whitla Hall which is situated right at the heart of the University campus beside the iconic Lanyon Building (building 7 on the campus map). 

Belfast

Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, sits on the banks of the River Lagan looking out across the Irish Sea.  Formerly a 19^th Century industrial powerhouse it is now a modern, vibrant, multicultural city with a blossoming arts and culture scene and busy nightlife.  There are plenty of things to see and do on your visit to Belfast, whether you want to join the Game of Thrones tour or see the Giant’s Causeway, none of Northern Ireland’s attractions are more than a few hours away from Belfast by car, train or coach.

Theme

The theme for this 8th edition of the conference is ‘Communicating, Connecting, Collaborating’. After a very challenging few years, we are looking forward to the opportunity of meeting again at this conference to share our practice and experience in delivering care for our critically ill patients.  We have all had to adapt to new ways of working, as well as consider opportunities for growth and development.  This is reflected in the theme of this year’s conference – the importance of communication, connection, and collaboration, with patients, within teams, and across services, and how optimising these can foster innovative and enhanced approaches to our practice, not just locally, but nationally and internationally as well.  We would love for you to showcase your work at the conference, and look forward to seeing your abstract submissions.
