Growing Up in the Market
Growing up in the Market (GUIM) is a three-year longitudinal study which began in early 2022.
The study follows a cohort of 61 children, young people, and their families over three years to understand better the persistent challenges identified by our partner community such as declining educational and employment opportunities, difficulties related to mental health and substance use and other consequences connected with disadvantage and inequality. We are currently in year two of the project. The data from year one has produced several outputs. Evidence briefs based on early findings were used to drive the activities of the Action Working Groups and have led to a number of Participatory Action Research (PAR) projects, which have addressed immediate need as identified by the community.
'Growing up in The Market' is a core pillar of QCAP’s integrated research approach to enhance understanding of the enduring nature of place-based social disadvantage in order to design, deliver and evaluate sustainable change to local economic, social and environmental challenges. We will continue to update this page as more outputs are produced.
