What is Violence?

What is Violence?

And how to get help should you experience this.

P4P Animation co-produced with young people for young people.

Welcome to our page.

Here you will find some resources that will help explain to children and young people what violence is and how to get help should they experience this.

Overview of the project:

  • ‘Participation for Protection’ (P4P) created a training pack for professionals who work with children and young people who experience violence.
  • The project was led by Dr Siobhan McAlister, Centre for Children’s Rights at Queen’s University Belfast and included partners from Austria; Belgium; Germany; the Republic of Ireland; Romania; and the UK.
  • Over 1300 children and young people, aged 8-18, across the countries shared their views on violence, what helps and what makes good services.
  • This included children in schools, children in care; children in detention/ in conflict with the law; Roma or Traveller children; children living in high conflict communities; child migrants and refugees; children with experience of domestic violence; and children who identify as LGBTQ+.

The resources have been designed by two groups of children and young people.

  1. St. Ita’s Primary School, Belfast http://www.stitas.co.uk/
  2. The Give and Take Programme at IncludeYouth and Newstart Education Centre

Here are some of the resources they produced. Please click on the title.

The advisory groups also produced lots of resources for professionals to use.

You can view these here.
