iRISE was proud to support the Diwali festival on 17th October, which took place in our wonderful Student Centre & Students' Union building at One Elmwood . The event was organised by the Student Engagement Team and Diversity & Inclusion Unit.

This important festival celebrated in its majority by the Indian community brought together staff and students for an afternoon that began with a hands-on pottery craft activity with bright color decorations. The pottery will serve the festival of lights.

This event was a meaningful way to maintain a sense of belonging for Indian students and staff, while also enriching the wider university community.

Diwali at the Student Union highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and diversity, offering everyone a chance to learn, appreciate, and participate in traditions that may be new to them.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the organising teams, the afternoon was a shining example of how shared experiences can build a more inclusive and vibrant campus for all.

Guests were treated to an exquisite spread of Indian cuisine

iRise celebrated the Diwali festival with the Indian community of QUB. Dr Liang Wang and Eyad Abu-Khiran enjoying themselves.

The organisation team greeted everyone at the Diwali festival event.

The creation of Rangoli designs and decorations with colorful patterns gave everyone the chance to participate.
