Outcome of Evaluation

Following public consultation and appointing design teams for the Dock Branch Park and surrounding housing and neighbourhood regeneration programmes, a recommendation was made at Wirral Council’s Policy & Resources Committee meeting in November 2024 that the Council acquires the north and south sections of the railway line from Network rail in two separate transactions. The acquisition of the southern section will progress first to enable the Hind Street Urban Village project (a large housing scheme) to be delivered first. This approach was recommended to safeguard the Council from taking on potentially significant financial liabilities associated with the structures in the northern section of the line, where the proposed Dock Branch Park would be developed.
