Indie Virtual Production Training: 2D Plate Workflows
This workshop programme equips independent filmmakers and creative professionals with practical virtual production skills for modern content creation. Delivered at Queen's University CaptureLab, participants will gain hands-on experience with Pixera software and learn essential 2D plate workflows for virtual production environments.
The programme demystifies virtual production technologies through a blend of seminars, practical workshops, and studio-lab testing time. Participants will explore pre-production planning, on-set role responsibilities, colour pipeline management, pre-lighting processes, and shoot day protocols. By developing fluency in the language and workflows of virtual production, attendees will be empowered to articulate their creative vision confidently and collaborate effectively with technical teams.
Running from late November 2025 through February 2026, the course includes two evening seminars, dedicated workshop sessions, and bookable CaptureLab access for plate quality control. Participants must commit to core seminars and at least one full-day Saturday workshop, culminating in a showcase event. This programme is designed for Northern Ireland-based professionals with at least one publicly funded short film credit who are ready to push creative boundaries using cutting-edge immersive media tools.
