You are not obliged to hire safety equipment, but it is also covered under the scheme. The University strongly recommends that staff should take advantage of this to acquire some or all of the following safety equipment:

• Helmets
• Bells and horns
• Lights
• Reflective clothing including jackets, gloves and over trousers
• Mirrors and mudguards to ensure riders visibility is not impaired
• Cycle clips and dress guards
• Child safety seats
• Panniers, luggage carriers and straps to allow luggage to be safely carried
• Locks and chains to ensure cycles can be safely secured
• Pumps, puncture repair kits, cycle tool kits and tyre sealant to allow for minor repairs
